Why I Love Lionshead Beer
I first became aware of Lionshead beer while hanging out at DJ Ru’s studio during his live broadcasts back in ’06. Being a Pennsylvania native, I am often drawn to beers brewed in the Keystone state (BSP is based in the Lehigh Valley a short hour south of the Lionshead Brewery in Wilkes-Barre, PA.) I was a big fan of Rolling Rock during my college days (before it was Budweiser in a green bottle), and of course many nights were spent sipping on Yuenglings.
After skipping around from overpriced drafts, I finally met my soulmate…Lionshead Light. I was at my local distributor ready to pick up my Lionshead case and there stood a fortress of Lionshead Light cases. I was hesitant at first, figuring that it might be a watered down version of the sweet nectar. No way no how (yes, I know all of US beers are watered down compared to our reader’s beer in Canada and Germany.) For a case of bottles it is $12, and not those disgusting dirty returnable bottles what you have no idea where they have been. Yes, it’s cheap, but it’s no garbage hipster beer ala PBR. Besides the smooth easy drinking taste, cheap price for bottles, the coolest thing about Lionshead are the puzzles on the bottom of the cap. Nothing kills the awkward silence, nothing is a better ice breaker, and nothing makes you feel smarter or dumber than a simple word puzzle. Best believe Lionshead can be found at many BSP events, and be like Dwight from the Office, and drink Lionshead beer.
