It’s a extremely sad loss of a great positive influential teacher that many of us grew up with.  I’ve been listening to Guru and Gangstarr since the late 80s from hustling newspapers on my bike with my walkman.  From “No More Mr. Niceguy” to my all time favorite hip hop track “Mass Appeal.” I was lucky enough to see him perform multiple times.  Absolute legend, forget all this other nonsense that is being spread now.  Mr. Cee from Hot 97 in NYC sums it up with this monster mix from the one the only GURU.

Posting some hip hop this Friday.  In the early days of BSP when I was going to school in North Philly, I met a DJ named Skipmode.  I have featured some of his sets and tracks on BSP.org in the past. BSP was throwing some wild house parties off campus and some really great talent would roll through and rock the house.  Everything from Techno to Hip Hop was being played.  Through these parties I met Skip’s MC, Mighty Flipside Esq.  Years later, I created the website for their Super Duo named Electric City.  Their album Everything, Everywhere, All the Time is a must for true hip hop fans. After running Philly’s longest hip hop monthly, Mighty Flipside Esq. has turned his focus to his new site hiphoplivesnow.org. Check out the site to stay up to date with quality hip hop.
