Paradise Sessions 9-19-09 Dj Ru Feat. Max Martinez

It was the year 1989 A.D. In a faraway place (Brooklyn N.Y.) Max Martinez set out on a musical journey. From his humble beginnings as a mobile DJ (weddings, parties, and small club events) he felt the need to progress further into the industry. For the past 20 years he has been honing his skills behind the decks as a DJ. It all started with HIP-HOP in the late 80’s. This eventually led to freestyle and then house music. “I would usually play the house version of a freestyle track at a party, because I was drawn to the 4 on the floor groove that it had”. The past five years or so have been focused on production. Productions may vary from deep to tech to tribal house. It is now that the time has come to release some of his material to the masses. Hopefully with hard work and determination, his dream will come to fruition.

Tune in Sunday nights, 9pm – 12am e.s.t. in the U.S.
Downtempo international beats and chill eclectic grooves to soothe and inspire.

BSP first came across Dylan Drazen in the late 90’s through a series of amazing techno and deep house mixtapes that he was releasing at that time. After listening to these mixtapes, It wasn’t hard to recognize the talent this NY city DJ had, and we quickly booked him for a few of our BSP events. Dylan never disappointed the crowd or us.
Dylan is a master behind the decks and this had lead to bookings all over the world. In Spain, where Dylan has had several residencies, he is somewhat of a legend. Underated as a DJ in the U.S. Dylan consistently puts out top notch mixes as well as top notch productions.
Classically trained as a studio engineer, Dylan’s first job out of school was as assistant engineer at Philip Glass’s now defunct Looking Glass Studios in New York. His first studio credit is an impressive one, assisting on the soundtrack of Martin Scorsese’s 1997 film Kundun. And since David Bowie was recording his Earthling album on premises, Dylan was hired to DJ his 50th birthday party.
His studio collaborations have been diverse indeed, sharing studio time with Tony Rohr, Tim Xavier, Marlon D., Christian Scott & Anthony Martinez, and most recently with his production partner Leon Koronis. Dylan and Leon met in 2006 when Dylan was hired as mix engineer for Leon’s first New York 2″tha” Bone compilation on his label Lost In House. Since then they have produced 4 EPs together, and Dylan has had two of his own releases on the imprint. He is now the label’s head engineer and heads up its A&R. The two released New York 2″tha” Bone Vol. 2 in 2009.
